We are a cooperative brand:

Our brand was set up by our farmers to improve their livelihoods. We have no shareholders. Our farmers own the brand, make decisions, and get the profits at year-end. We collect all their milk to give them a secure income throughout the year and in the long term. Many farms have been members for several generations. Cooperative membership also gives our farmers access to expert advice, training and assistance with set-up.

Basically, by buying Paysan Breton products, you are supporting farmers.

Responsible farmers

Animal welfare:

  • Assessments of dairy cattle welfare and training on good practices are ongoing on our members' farms.
  • Moreover, 100% of farmers have shown their commitment by signing the Good Farming Practices Charter.
  • Also worth noting is the fact that almost 100% of the cattle fodder used is sourced from France and two-thirds of it is produced on farms.

Reducing farms' environmental footprint:

  • Over 80% of our farms participate in the "Low Carbon Dairy Farm" scheme

Ensuring farms' long-term prosperity:

  • The price of milk is determined by farmers themselves, and farmers are also eligible for quality bonuses and a return on year-end profits.
  • Financial support to help young farmers set up.

Animal welfare

Whatever's good for the cows is good for the quality of the milk they produce. That's why our Paysan Breton farmers take great care to ensure their cows are calm, healthy and well-nourished. Our farmers maintain a close bond with their herds and promote their welfare by allowing them to graze, applying the Good Farming Practices Charter, and running manageably-sized farms.

Eco-design our packaging

Recyclability

Here at Paysan Breton, we're taking active steps to eco-design our packaging. All the cardboard we use is sourced from sustainably managed forests. We have reduced our packaging (Madame Loïk), made it recyclable (filled crêpes and butter tubs), and continue to work on various projects.

We are the quintessential local brand! There's no question of our products being sourced from anywhere but Brittany and Pays de la Loire. This guaranteed origin applies both to our milk and the sites at which our products are manufactured.
